Creoss

Its interesting to me how some of my work becomes more or less interesting to me.   More more less influential this piece titled Croess was first developed in 1984 and its influencing a whole new body of work in relation to Neurological Expressionism. It was a self portrait and the blurring within the image is the movement of my figure throught the projected light.

Contemporary Australian Landscape Painting

In Elbow Valley 3 the fork of the tree has been placed in the foreground. The cross hatching is intense and highly contrasted . The painting has been completed on a white ground which helps to emphasize the contrast. Some branches have formed shadows or have been painted as curved black marks giving the painting a sense of movement or vibration. Elbow Valley is in Queenland part of Northern Australia.

Australian Landscape Painting

I'm about to post some work from early 2010, paintings from black mountain. This is quite fresh and something of a challenge in terms of my art practice. The painting was reseached by taking the digital camera up to an area near my home called Black Mountain. During this shoot I was intrigued by the graphic nature of the Australian trees, mostly gums so characteristic of this area. So I have set about limiting the colour in the compositions and working with cross hatched lines rather than areas of tone or colour. This painting was selected by Australian art critic John Macdonald and included in the Stanthorpe Art Festival
